本规范规定了滑坡与崩塌分类及危害分级、可行性论证阶段、设计阶段、施工阶段勘查以及应急治理的勘查要求，并规定了主要勘查方法、物理力学试验与稳定状态分析、竣工地质报告等内容。
本规范适用于自然滑坡防治工程的勘查，也可用于水利水电、铁道、交通、城建、矿山等行业的滑坡防治工程勘查。
本规范中除特别注明外，可适用于崩塌防治工程勘查。
