本规范适用于已经发生过且可能继续或再次发生变形破坏和活动的滑坡、崩塌与泥石流的监测，以及有可能发生崩滑的自然的或人工的斜坡和泥石流活动的沟槽（或斜坡)的监测。
本规范以专业监测为主，部分内容可供群测群防监测参见。
