本标准规定了表示线密度的特克斯（Tex）制的原则和单位。
附录A和附录B分别给出了由其他单位制的支数或纤度计算特克斯（tex）值的换算关系，以及在贸易上、工业上推行特克斯制的步骤。
本标准适用于各类纺织纤维、半制品（例如条子、粗纱）、纱线及类似结构的纺织材料。
