本标准规定了弹性针布的分类、标记、要求、试验方法、检验规则和包装、标志、贮存。
本标准适用于纺织生产中梳理棉、毛、麻等各种纤维的弹性针布(除弹性盖板针布外)，也适用于纺织工业对机织、针织、经编织物等进行起毛整理的弹性针布，其他用途的弹性针布也可参照使用。
