本标准规定了用硝酸银屏蔽重铬酸盐氧化法测定海洋石油勘探开发生活污水中化学需氧量（COD）的方法原理、操作步骤及结果计算等。 本标准适用于氯离子质量浓度不大于20 000 mg/L（氯度不大于20）的海洋石油勘探开发过程中产生的含氯生活污水中化学需氧量（COD）的测定。其他行业生活污水的化学需氧量的测定也可参照使用。本标准对未经稀释水样的化学需氧量测定下限为15 mg/L，测定上限为700 mg/L。
