本文件规定了电气设备用图形符号列入IEC出版物的导则，保证列入IEC出版物的电气设备用图形符号符合横向标准IEC 60417和ISO 7000的要求。
本文件适用于有意制定电气设备用图形符号，并列入其产品出版物的任何技术委员会和分技术委员会。
本文件根据IEC Guide 108:2006的第4章制定。
关于新电气设备用图形符号的创建，见IEC 80416-1和ISO 80416-2；关于标准化的电气设备用图形符号的应用，见IEC 80416-3 和ISO 80416-4。
本横向标准主要供技术委员会在根据IEC Guide 108中规定的原则起草标准时使用。
技术委员会的职责之一是起草出版物时适当地使用横向标准。除非在相关出版物中具体提及或包含横向标准的内容，否则横向标准的内容不适用。
