本标准规定了照相胶片、干板、相纸，包括黑白胶片、黑白印相纸、彩色反转胶片、彩色负性胶片和彩色相纸的分辨力的测定方法。
本标准不适用于X射线和其他高能射线用照相材料，如医用射线照相材料，它们的曝光光源是与胶片（单面或双面乳剂）相接触的增感屏。具有光敏高聚物、重氮盐等光敏层的照相材料也不适用。
