本标准适用于航空航天、轨道交通、海洋装备、风电、核电、冶金、石化、矿山、工业机器人等重要的传动领域中齿轮的轧制或锻造毛坯，毛坯外径一般不大于 1 200 mm，单件质量不大于 3 t。其他有高可靠性要求的齿轮毛坯也可参考使用。
本标准不建议用于一般工业、医疗、汽车等领域。
