本标准规定了汽车及挂车侧面和后下部防护装置的技术要求及车辆技术要求。本标准适用于N2、N3、O3和O4类车辆。本标准不适用于半挂牵引车；也不适用于为了专门目的设计和制造的、由于客观原因而无法安装侧面防护装置和后下部防护装置的车辆。后下部防护要求不适用于为搬运无法分段的长货物而专门设计和制造的特殊用途车辆（如运输木材等货物的车辆）。
