本标准规定了带式输送机（以下简称“输送机”）在设计和制造、安装、使用和维护等方面的安全要求。
本标准适用于输送各种块状、粒状等松散物料以及成件物品的固定带式输送机。
本标准不适用于煤矿井下带式输送机、直接与食品或药物接触的带式输送机、载人带式输送机。
对于输送易燃、易爆、有毒、腐蚀、有放射性等物料的输送机，除应遵守本标准外，还应遵守相应的标准。
