本标准规定了电阻焊机的通用安全要求、检验规则和试验方法。
本标准适用于不超过GB/T 156标准中表1规定的电压供电或由机械设备驱动的电阻焊机和类似工艺所用的焊机及电阻焊机控制器（以下简称控制器），包括单独和多站使用的焊机。
控制器与电阻焊机可以组成为一体，也可以分开为单独设备，但不论采取哪种结构形式，都适用于本标准。
