Scope of Application:
This standard applies to the food nutrition enhancer fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS). Fructo-oligosaccharides are produced from chicory (or Jerusalem artichoke) as raw materials through processes such as partial enzymatic hydrolysis or membrane separation, purification, and drying, resulting in a mixture of kestose (GF2) to nystose (GF7) and 1-kestose (F2) to 1,1,1,1,6,6,6-heptakestose (F8). Alternatively, they can be produced from sucrose through the action of β-fructofuranosidase derived from Aspergillus niger or Aspergillus oryzae, followed by purification and drying, resulting in a mixture of kestose (GF2) to fructosyl-nystose (GF5).
