本标准规定了未使用过的矿物绝缘油的术语和定义、分类和标记、要求和试验方法、检验规则及标志、包装、运输和贮存。
本标准适用于变压器、开关及需要用油作绝缘和传热介质的类似电气设备所使用的、由石油馏分为原料，经精制后得到的未使用过的含和不含添加剂的矿物绝缘油。发电机用油可参考本标准。
本标准不包括由再生油制得的矿物绝缘油。
本标准不适用于在电缆或电容器中作为浸渍剂使用的矿物绝缘油。
