本标准规定了普通用途双向拉伸聚丙烯（BOPP）薄膜的术语和定义、分类、要求、试验方法、检验规则、标志、包装、运输和贮存。
本标准适用于以聚丙烯树脂为主要原料，用平膜法经双向拉伸制得的用于普通用途的普通型（光膜）和热封型薄膜。
本标准不适用于其他特殊功能的双向拉伸聚丙烯薄膜，如双向拉伸聚丙烯消光薄膜、双向拉伸聚丙烯珠光薄膜、双向拉伸聚丙烯拉线用薄膜、双向拉伸聚丙烯电容器用薄膜、双向拉伸聚丙烯香烟包装薄膜等。
