GB/T 10357的本部分规定了直背椅、凳类家具的两种稳定性试验方法：试验法和计算法。这两种试验方法所规定的加力方法和加力部位是相同的，所得出的试验结果是等效的。
本部分适用于家庭、宾馆、饭店等场合使用的各种直背椅、凳类家具，以及调节成直背状态的躺椅和靠背可倾式座椅。
本部分不适用于多位排椅及其他多用椅，以及调节成可躺卧状态的躺椅和靠背可倾式座椅。
