本标准规定了用氨气加速试验检测铜及铜合金加工材中残余应力（包括外加应力）的方法。这种应力均可导致材料在使用或储存过程中因应力腐蚀破裂而损坏。
本标准适用于黄铜加工材残余应力的检验，也适用于组装件和零部件（有限尺寸）的检验。
