本标准规定了用于焚烧船舶正常作业过程中产生的垃圾和其他废弃物（例如维护、操作、生活和货运附带废弃物）的船用焚烧炉的设计、制造、性能、操作、功能和试验要求。
本标准适用于单位容量在1 500 kW及以内的焚烧炉设备。
本标准不适用于具有特殊用途的船用焚烧炉系统，如用于焚烧化学物质、生产废料等工业废弃物的船用焚烧炉。
本标准没有涉及焚烧炉的电气供应要求，也没有涉及其底座连接和组件连接方法。
