GB/T 1149的本部分规定了钢带组合油环的基本尺寸特征，不规定完整的产品描述（因为活塞环制造商不同，衬环的结构也不同，具体的设计细节由制造商与客户共同商定）。
本部分适用于气缸直径从40 mm～125 mm的道路车辆用及其他用途的往复式内燃机用的钢带组合油环，在类似条件下工作的压缩机活塞环也可参照使用。
