本标准规定了自动轨道衡（以下简称“轨道衡”）的术语和定义、计量要求、技术要求、试验与检验方法、检验规则以及标志、包装、运输和贮存。
本标准适用于标准轨距、通过动态称量方式确定铁路货车质量的轨道衡（包括轴称量、转向架称量和整车称量）。其他轨距、称量范围和准确度等级的轨道衡可参照使用本标准；不断轨自动轨道衡、轨垫传感器自动轨道衡以及钢轨传感器自动轨道衡也可参照使用本标准。
