本标准规定了耐热钢棒(圆钢、方钢、扁钢和六角钢的总称，以下简称钢棒)的尺寸、外形、技术要求、试验方法、验收规则、包装标志及质量证明书等内容。
本标准适用于尺寸(直径、边长、厚度或对边距离，以下简称尺寸)不大于250 mm的热轧、锻制钢棒或尺寸不大于120 mm的冷加工钢棒。经供需双方协商，也可供应尺寸大于250 mm的热轧、锻制钢棒，或尺寸大于120 mm的冷加工钢棒。
