本标准规定了金属试样在给定扭矩、恒定幅值、名义上受弹性应力、不引起应力集中条件下的疲劳试验。试验通常在室温（10 ℃~35 ℃)大气条件下进行，沿试样的纵轴加载。
本标准适用于圆形截面试样及圆管截面试样的切取、制备和试验。不包括构件及其他特殊类型的试验。同样也不包括恒幅角位移控制的低周扭转疲劳试验，其失效周次通常只有几千次。
