本标准规定了使用燃料的工业炉热平衡测定与计算的术语和定义、热平衡和热收支项目、热平衡测定、计算方法以及测定报告的要求。
本标准适用于使用固体、液体和气体燃料的工业炉，如轧钢加热炉、均热炉、热处理炉、冲天炉、步进炉、罩式炉、输送带炉等以及各种用途的隧道窑、倒焰窑和其他工业炉窑等（以下简称“工业炉”）进行热平衡测定与计算。
注： 本标准中所列的测定项目对各类工业炉不是必须全部进行的，本标准也没有包括各类工业炉所有的热平衡测定项目。各类工业炉的测定项目在各自的热平衡标准中具体规定，补充列出本标准所未包括的项目。
