本标准规定了水环真空泵和水环压缩机（不加区分时统称为泵）工厂试验时的试验方法、试验结果的分析换算与性能容差及试验报告。
本标准适用于任何尺寸的泵以水作工作液体，以环境空气为工作介质的试验。
本标准既适用于不带任何管路附件的泵本身，又适用于连接上全部或部分上游和/或下游管路附件的泵组合体。
对于利用除水以外的其他液体作为工作液体进行试验时，也可参照使用。
