GB/T 14055的本部分规定了用于校准辐射防护用中子测量仪器并确定其能量响应的中子参考辐射，能量范围为热能至20 MeV。对中子能量为1 MeV时，中子注量率达到1×109 m-2·s-1，相当于剂量当量率达到100 mSv·h-1。
本部分只涉及中子参考辐射的产生方法及其特性，ISO 85292和ISO 85293规定用这些参考辐射进行校准的方法。
