本标准规定了γ射线探伤机（以下简称为γ探伤机）的产品分类、技术要求、试验方法、检验规则和标志、包装、运输及贮存等。本标准不规定γ探伤机的测读系统及其要求。
本标准适用于采用密封放射源发射的γ射线进行工业射线照相的探伤机产品。本标准不适用于为特殊用途而设计的γ射线探伤机。
