本标准规定了化学纤维线密度的两种试验方法，束纤维中段称量法（方法A）和单纤维振动仪法（方法B）。
本标准适用于聚酯（涤纶）、聚酰胺（锦纶）、聚丙烯腈（腈纶）、聚丙烯（丙纶）、聚乙烯醇缩甲醛（维纶）、再生纤维素纤维等化学短纤维的线密度测定。丝束可参照使用。以上两种方法试验时均应对纤维施加一定的张力，使纤维伸直卷曲消失，保证测试结果的有效性。方法A和方法B的采用，根据具体条件由有关双方协商确定。
