GB/T 14598的本部分为振动、冲击、碰撞和地震要求的系列标准的其中一部分，适用于量度继电器和保护装置、安全自动装置及接口设备等产品的地震试验。
本部分包括可选择的两种类型地震试验方法（参见附录A)：
--方法A：单轴正弦扫频地震试验；
--方法B：双轴多频随机地震试验。
地震试验可在两种地震方法中任选一种方法进行试验。
GB/T 14598的本部分规定的试验为型式试验。
本部分的目的是规定：
--所用术语的定义；
--试验条件；
--标准的试验严酷等级；
--试验程序；
--合格判据。
