本标准规定了普通木工车床(以下简称机床)各部分的术语，同时参照GB/T 17421.1—1998,规定了机床的几何精度检验,并给定了相应的公差,适用于一般用途、普通精度的机床。
本标准只规定了机床的几何精度检验，不适用于机床的运转试验（如振动、异常噪声、零部件的爬行等检验），也不适用于机床的特性检验（如速度、进给量等），这些检验一般宜在机床的几何精度检验前进行。
本标准对机床的工作精度检验不作硬性规定，其应在用户与制造商之间预先的协议中另行规定。
