GB 15579的本部分规定了弧焊和类似工艺使用的焊炬（枪）的安全要求和结构要求。
焊炬（枪）包括焊炬（枪）的主体、电缆软管组件和其他有关部件。
本部分不适用于手工电弧焊使用的电焊钳和空气电弧气刨/切割使用的割炬。
注： 本部分的术语“焊炬”和“焊枪”是可以互换的。为方便起见，以下都称为“焊炬（枪）”。
