GB/T 16781的本部分规定了用碘浸渍硅胶化学吸附取样法测定天然气中汞含量的方法，取样压力最高40 MPa。

本部分适用于测定天然气中含量为0.1 μg/m3～5 000 μg/m3范围内的汞。

本部分适用于所取样品体积中硫化氢质量小于20 mg；且在取样条件下液态烃凝析液总量小于10 g/m3的样品气。通过测量波长为253.7 nm处汞蒸气的吸光度或荧光度来确定其被收集的量。
