本标准规定了测定化学式为R(OC2H4)n OH的聚乙氧基化脂肪醇和聚乙氧基化烷基酚（其中，n指平均EO加合数）中聚乙二醇（PEG）含量的高效液相色谱法。
本标准适用于能溶于甲醇或甲醇/水（80/20，体积比）的乙氧基化产物，适用于测定PEG含量大于或等于0.1%的样品（含量过高的样品需要适当的稀释）。
本标准不适用于测定摩尔质量低于400 g/mol的聚乙二醇，也不适用于乙二醇、二乙二醇、三乙二醇及丙三醇的测定。
