GB/T 1800的本部分规定了孔、轴常用公差带代号的极限偏差数值，其数值是按GB/T 1800.1中的标准公差和基本偏差数值表计算得到的。它包括孔的上极限偏差ES和轴的上极限偏差es、孔的下极限偏差EI和轴的下极限偏差ei(见图1和图2)。
注： 在极限偏差数值表中，除了对称于零线的公差带代号JS和js外，上极限偏差ES或es的数值是在下极限偏差EI或ei的数值之上。
本部分建立了线性尺寸公差的ISO代号体系，其适用以下类型的尺寸要素：
a) 圆柱面；
b) 两相对平行面。
为简化，并且考虑具有圆截面的圆柱工件的重要性，只对这些要素明确指定。然而，为了更好理解，本部分所给公差和偏差同样适用于非圆形截面的工件。
特别是，术语“孔”或“轴”通常被用于表示圆柱面型要素（如孔或轴直径的公差标注），为简化，这些术语也被用于两相对平行面型（如键的厚度或槽宽的公差标注）。
