GB/T 18271规定了对过程测量和控制装置进行功能和性能特性试验以及编写试验报告的通用方法和程序。这些试验适用于任何具有特定输入输出变量，且输入输出变量之间具有特定关系(传递函数)的过程测量和控制装置，包括模拟装置和数字装置。对于需要做特殊试验项目的装置，宜按照GB/T 18271 并结合对此类特殊试验项目有专门规定的产品标准进行试验。
