本标准规定了公制规格0.2 mm～3.4 mm的正常壁、薄壁和0.6 mm～2.1 mm的超薄壁管的尺寸、表面及力学特性。
本标准适用于对人体皮内、皮下、肌肉和静脉的注射针针管和其他医疗器械用硬直不锈钢针管(下称针管)。
本标准不适用于易弯式不锈钢针管，因其力学性能不同于本标准规定的硬直不锈钢针管，但鼓励易弯式针管的制造方和购买方选用本标准中的规定尺寸。
