本标准适用于均匀分格排列的49、98、270和420个画幅的缩微平片及单一画幅的缩微平片。
根据使用的需要，缩微平片的影像可以是正像或负像。
在附录中阐述了均匀分格排列的30、60、63、84、208、210和325个画幅的缩微平片的特征，阐述了专用的非均匀分格排列的2、4、8、16、32和64个画幅的缩微平片的特征。
