本标准规定了在艇体长度不大于24 m的小艇上所设避雷设备的设计、制造和安装的要求。
注： 雷击的可能性随着地理位置和时间的不同而不同，但是，当云层和大地之间存在放电条件时，就无法避免雷击放电发生。在宽阔的水面上或码头，小艇很可能被雷电击中。小艇上的避雷系统并不能完全避免设备损害及人员伤害，本标准也不涉及这种完全保护。
