GB/T 18838的本部分规定了喷射清理用的12种等级的冷硬铸铁砂磨料的技术要求，包括硬度、密度、缺陷、金相组织和化学成分等。
本部分规定的要求只适用于未经使用过的磨料，不适用于使用过的磨料。
喷射清理用金属磨料的试验方法见GB/T 19816的各部分。
冷硬铸铁砂磨料是可回收和重复使用的磨料，既可用于固定的又可用于现场的喷射设备。
