GB/T 18838的本部分规定了喷射清理用的13种规格等级的钢丝切丸的技术要求，包括硬度、密度、缺陷、金相组织和化学成分等。
本部分适用于以冷拉钢丝切割加工制成的用于喷射清理用的钢丝切丸。
本部分规定的要求只适用于未经使用过的磨料，不适用于使用过的磨料。
喷射清理用金属磨料的试验方法见GB/T 19816的各个部分。
钢丝切丸是可回收和重复使用的磨料，既可用于固定的又可用于现场的喷射设备。
