本标准规定了艇体长度不大于24 m的机动游艇空气噪声最大声压级能再现和可比较的测量结果的条件，这些艇包括艇内机艇、尾机驱动艇、个人艇（PWC）以及与标准艇一起使用的舷外机。它也规定了基于标准艇的有完整排气系统的舷内外机驱动的型式试验和舷外机型式试验。
如果除了最大声压级之外，还要求确定声暴露声级，则应遵循附录A规定的程序。
