本标准规定在色度学中使用的色匹配函数。规定了两种色匹配函数。
a) CIE 1931标准色度观测者色匹配函数
这种色匹配函数给出了具有正常色视觉的观测者在适应的明视觉下、视场约1°～4°时的色匹配特性。
b) CIE 1964补充标准色度观测者色匹配函数
这种色匹配函数给出了具有正常色视觉的观测者在充分高的明视觉下，以及在光谱功率分布致使视网膜柱状细胞感受器未参与的情况下，在大于4°的视场中的色匹配特性。
