本标准按照四种验收等级，规定了无缝和焊接(埋弧焊除外)钢管分层缺欠的超声检测要求。验收等级B1(见表1)只适用于某些苛刻条件下使用的无缝钢管，如蒸汽汇集器。
注1: 对于焊接(埋弧焊除外)钢管，还可选择在钢管成型前，对钢带的分层缺欠进行超声检测。
本标准适用于公称外径大于30 mm的钢管的检验。对钢管壁厚下限未作规定。
注2:对公称壁厚小于5 mm的钢管，当采用本标准方法探测和确定分层缺欠尺寸有困难时，由供需双方协商确定需采用的检测方法和分层缺欠尺寸确定方法。
