GB/T 20975的本部分规定了CDTA滴定法、火焰原子吸收光谱法和Na2EDTA滴定法测定铝及铝合金中镁含量。
本部分适用于铝及铝合金中镁含量的仲裁测定。CDTA滴定法测定范围：0.10%～12.00%；火焰原子吸收光谱法测定范围：0.002 0%～5.00%；Na2EDTA滴定法测定范围：1.00%～52.00 %。
注： 镁质量分数＞0.10%～5.00%时，采用火焰原子吸收光谱法为仲裁方法；镁质量分数＞5.00%～12.00%时，采用Na2EDTA滴定法为仲裁方法。
