GB/T 21559的本部分规定了直线运动滚动支承基本额定动载荷和基本额定寿命的计算方法，适用于采用当代、常用、高质量淬硬轴承钢、按良好加工方法制造，且滚动接触表面的形状基本上为常规设计的直线运动滚动支承。本部分还规定了直线运动滚动支承寿命的定义和可靠的寿命计算的条件。
本部分不适用于滚动体直接在机械设备的滑动表面上运转的设计，除非该表面在各方面与直线运动滚动支承零部件的滚道等效方可代替。
