本标准规定了基于IP的视讯会议系统设备之间互通的技术要求，包括这样几个方面：不同厂家的多点控制单元(MCU)与多点控制单元(MCU)之间，不同厂家的多点控制器(MC)和多点处理器(MP)之间的互通；不同厂家的多点处理器(MP)之间的互通；不同厂家的多点控制器(MC)之间的互通；不同厂家的视讯会议终端与网守之间的互通；不同厂家的多点控制器(MC)与网守之间的互通；多点控制器(MC)与会议终端间及网关与认证、授权、计费系统的互通。
本标准适用于基于IP网络的视讯会议系统。
