GB/T 21649.1的本部分规定了利用静态图像分析法测定颗粒粒度分布的方法。本部分适用于测定能够从显微镜中获得图像的颗粒的粒度分布。
本部分测量的颗粒尺寸范围是小于10∶1的窄分布。为了获得可重复的体积平均直径，对符合正态分布的、标准偏差为1.6的分布，需要测量6 000多个颗粒。如果要得到可靠的百分数值时，如D90或其他百分数值，则必须至少测量61 000个颗粒。详见附录A。
