GB/T 21782的本部分规定了测定粉末涂料密度的液体置换比重瓶法。本方法是基于对试料的质量和体积的测定。
本方法指定的设备相对便宜，但是液体置换比重瓶法可能会给出不正确的结果，尤其是在粉末随着置换液体而膨胀时，或者置换的液体没有完全置换粉末微粒中的空气时。液体置换方法使用时较慢，比GB/T 21782.2—2008《气体比较比重仪法测定密度（仲裁法）》更不准确，而且在证实能与气体比较比重仪法得出同样结果的时候才使用本方法。
