本标准规定了用金属原位统计分布分析法测定碳、硅、锰、磷、硫、铬、镍、铜、钛、铌、钼、钒、铝等成分的分布。
本标准适用于测定横截面包含长为30 mm～120 mm，宽为30 mm～120 mm的长方形或正方形区域，高为10 mm～50 mm的块状中低合金钢样品。一般分析面积最大不超过6 400 mm 2，分析长度最大不超过120 mm。各元素质量分数测定范围见表1。
