本标准规定了测定纸和纸板透气度（中等范围）所使用仪器的基本技术要求和一般操作方法。
本标准适用于透气度在1×10-2 μm/(Pa·s)～1×102 μm/(Pa·s)范围内的纸和纸板。
本标准不适用于表面粗糙的纸和纸板，如皱纹纸和瓦楞纸，因这类纸不易牢固夹紧，容易导致泄漏。
