本标准规定了满足1974年国际海上人命安全公约（SOLAS 1974）及其修正案、国际救生设备（LSA）规则（IMO MSC.48(66)决议）第1章的1.2和第5章、IMO A.689（17）决议及其修正案的充气式救助艇充气腔用胶布的最低要求及试验方法。胶布由基布的单面或双面上涂覆人工合成弹性或塑性化合物制成。〖JP〗
除了SOLAS对于充气式救助艇所用胶布的要求以外，还应满足ISO 6185：1982《船舶与海上技术充气式艇 增强弹性或塑性材料艇的要求》。
