本标准规定了制冷系统和热泵的系统流程图和管路仪表图的符号和绘图规则。这些图形不仅说明制冷系统的构造和功能，而且是组成制冷系统设计、制作、安装、投产、运行、维护和停产所必需的全部技术文件的一部分。
本标准适用于蒸气压缩制冷、吸收制冷、蒸汽喷射制冷、涡流管制冷、压缩空气制冷、吸附制冷等通过流体工质状态变化实现制冷的制冷系统。
本标准不适用于系统内部热传递由电回路实现的制冷系统，如帕尔贴效应。
